Winery : Kate Hill Wines

$38.00 - $42.00
Kate Hill came to Tasmania in 2006, having had 10 years winemaking experience in South Australia, France, California and Chile. She was an executive winemaker with Orlando Wyndham for four years at their Riverina winery.

The previous vintages of this wine have been run-away successes: vintage 2008 winning the coveted Trophies for Best Pinot Noir and Best Wine of Show at the 2010 Tasmanian Wine Show, and the 2009 release selling out in the blink of an eye. Tom Stevenson singled out the 2010 for praise, extolling its virtues for cellaring, after judging at the 2012 Tas Wine Show.

2013 Kate Hill Huon Valley Pinot Noir: What a delight. And another excellent example of the 'Cradoc style' (Sailor Seeks Horse makes pinots from this area): Pretty, lifted perfume - 5% whole bunch helps. Medium density with sweetly beguiling and persistent fruit. Delectable.

2013 Kate Hill Pinot Noir: There's texture and substance in the mouth with charry oak and natural fruit tannins providing a framework for the dark-berried, intense fruit.
