Pooley 2024 Butcher's Hill Pinot Noir
Winery : Pooley Wines
Pooley is one of Tasmania's long-established producers, with vines originally planted by the late Margaret & Dennis Pooley at their Cooinda Vale property in the Coal River Valley in 1985. The Pooley estate also includes Butcher's Hill, established in 2003, on the outskirts of Richmond.
Michele's notes: Deep ruby. Enveloping bouquet of ripe dark cherry, cola, cinnamon spice with cardamom lift and hint of charcuterie, and it rewards with each appreciative sniff.
Bold cherry and plum fruit combine with savoury elements and just the right amount of astringency from the grape tannins and elegant use of oak. Hints of bitter cocoa and caramelised orange rind add to the complexity. It is certainly drinking very well now, but will repay cellaring of up to 10 years or more.
