Riesling - Tasmanian Quartet
Winery : Various
Four superb new releases from top Tasmanian producers. Dozen pricing includes free freight.
MIXED DOZEN contains three each of all the wines.
2019 Hughes & Hughes Riesling: An exceptionally fragrant riesling with notes of honeysuckle and white peach plus refreshing citrus. Full and round in the mouth, the luscious texture resulting from natural yeast ferment and soaking on skins. Fruit is sourced from Derwent & Coal River Valleys plus the North West.
2018 Freycinet Riesling: TOP GOLD 2020 Tasmanian Wine Show. A benchmark by which others are judged. Mature vines and gentle handling lets the fruit sing. In typical Tasmanian mode, the long, slow ripening allows for balance of complex fruit to acid, the latter never making a loud statement! If ever there were a Riesling to enjoy in its youth, Freycinet is it. Lime citrus, honey, vibrant, balanced and elegant. Superb oyster match.
2018 Bream Creek Reserve ‘Old Vine’ Riesling: Five GOLD MEDALS Brand new release in the superb range of Bream Creek wines - a Riesling made solely from an original block of 46 year old vines. Complex and beguiling aromas of punchy grapefruit with sweet citrus curd and ginger/anise underneath. Exceptional fruit fullness and roundness of flavour tempered with cleansing but not strident acidity.
2018 Rivulet Wine Co Riesling: GOLD MEDAL 2020 Tasmanian Wine Show. Made by Keira O’Brien, winemaker at Tasmanian Vintners, from some of the old vines at Bream Creek. Enhanced florals, and wonderful texture from extra skin contact. The effect is one of richness yet freshness and superb balance - lemon, grapefruit, soft, rich fruit.
