Sinapius Rose & Gamay
Winery : Sinapius
Sinapius Vineyard was established in 2005 by Linda Morice and the late Vaughn Dell at Pipers River in Tasmania's north-east. They are among the most exciting producers in Tasmania today. Sinapius is a champion of gamay, a variety surprisingly under-planted and under-utilised in Tasmania.
2020 Jean Morice Rose: 100% young vine gamay. Minimal sulphur at bottling.
Michele's notes: Pale salmon, clean and fresh. A vivacious style with fruits tending to Kentish cherry and red currant. Fermented in old oak, enhancing the savoury/mineral characters. Utterly delicious with charcuterie.
2019 Esme Gamay: 100% gamay. Classic carbonic maceration technique with wild yeast. Old oak, no fining nor filtration. Minimal sulphur at bottling.
Vineyard notes: '...intensely perfumed nose, showing bright red cherries and hints of violets and wild fennel. Light to medium bodied, the palate is sweet’n’silky, full of juicy pomegranates, with fine/chalky tannins. This wine has great length and persistence, with a wonderful fine spice and lively acidity to finish.'
