Telmo Rodriguez Basa VERDEJO
Telmo Rodriguez' Basa is produced from 50 year old verdejo vines (pronounced 'verdekkho') at 750 metres altitude, and cropped at about 1kg/vine. This is an aromatic wine with tantalising mixture of flowers and lime citrus as well as richer nuttiness. It's full flavoured with a wonderful texture, and inherent freshness. 13.5% alcohol, screw cap.
Rueda in NW Spain is noted primarily for its white wines. Verdejo, according to The Jancis Tome, was introduced to Rueda by the Mozarabs before Moorish rule. DNA parentage analysis suggests that godello (from Galicia) is a sibling variety. Verdejo is Spain's 5th most planted white variety.
