The Tamar Valley Wine Region is Tasmania's oldest and largest wine area, stretching about 50 kilometres north from Launceston to Bass Strait. Split by the River Tamar (kanamaluka), the valley features over 30 boutique and family owned vineyards spread across both the eastern and western banks. The local cool-maritime climate is moderated by the surrounding waters, creating ideal conditions for growing grapes.

The region excels in crisp, premium cool-climate varieties. The west bank is famous for Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Riesling, while the east bank shines with exceptional sparkling wines.
