Tinderbox 2016 Pinot Noir
Winery : Tinderbox
Tasmania's D'Entrecasteaux Channel is the waterway between the Tasmanian mainland and Bruny Island, south of Hobart. The quaint names - Snug, Kettering, Flowerpot, Tinderbox - are appropriate for such a picturesque region of neat little bays, white beaches, and rolling hills. And then there is the excellent pinot that's grown so well here, so far south.
Tinderbox owner LizMcGown planted the first vines in 1994. Alain Rousseau of Frogmore Creek Winery makes the wine.
This is a beautifully aromatic wine with dark berry, lip-smacking juicy fruit, cedar and spicy notes, set off by a textured and quite slippery palate with beautifully fine tannins. It is a classic of its region.
