Milford Vineyard defines the word boutique. This 1.2ha vineyard, which is owned by a group of friends, is exclusively devoted to pinot noir. Planted in 1985, the site, near Hobart's airport in the Coal Valley, is low yielding and of low vigour. Very limited volumes. Made by Alain Rousseau of Frogmore Wines.
Michele's notes: Beautiful deep crimson with magenta flashes. Stunning aromas of freshly baked pastry and blackberry, typical of this producer. Hints of chocolate/mocha, orange zest and clove spice add interest.
Old vine material gives depth and complexity to the flavours, and superb balance. Bold red and black fruits dominate the palate, complemented by excellent savouriness from well-handled oak. Tannins are chalky/chewy and ultra-fine. A superb release from this renowned ‘petite’ producer.
