Nanny Goat Pinot Noirs
Winery : Nanny Goat
MIXED SIX comprises 2 each 2023 Nanny Goat, 2022 Queensberry SV & 2022 Super Nanny Pinots.
Nanny Goat Vineyard is named after the wild goats that roam the mountainous terrain of Central Otago. The estate vineyard is in the Queensberry sub region, approximately halfway between Cromwell and Wanaka, alongside the Mata Au/Clutha River. The Nanny Goat team also works with growers in Pisa, Gibbston, Bannockburn & Queensberry to source more premium fruit. Central Otago native Alan Peters-Oswald is the winemaker.
2023 Nanny Goat Pinot Noir: Michele's notes: Brilliant magenta/crimson. Inviting aromas of chocolate, cherry and cranberry, with savoury thyme, caper and meaty elements. There's a lively energy in the mouth, the fruit, acid and subtle oak work in harmony.
2022 Queensberry Single Vineyard Pinot Noir: From the original 'home' vineyard. BioGro Certified organic. Michele's notes: A deep dive into glorious pinot aromas - meaty, plummy, Christmas-cake-spicy! Clean, lithe and very silky on the palate. Nice touch of strap liquorice on the finish with food-friendly astringency.
2022 Super Nanny Pinot Pinot Noir: Super Nanny comprises the best parcels of fruit the from Nanny Goat vineyard and selected partnering vineyards. Michele's notes: Wonderful perfume of plum cake with brighter notes of cranberry, plus mocha and wet stone. Despite the obvious richness and depth of flavour, there is an essential flow and suppleness to the wine. Extremely enjoyable drinking.
