Sailor Seeks Horse 2022 Pinot Noirs

Mixed SIX contains 5 x Sailor Seeks Horse Pinot Noir, 1 x Sailor Seeks Horse DIJON CLONES Pinot Noir

Sailor Seeks Horse is the creation of winemakers Paul and Gilli Lipscombe. After studying winemaking/viticulture in Margaret River and doing vintages in Oregon and New Zealand, they settled in the Huon and set about reviving a derelict vineyard at Cradoc, which had been planted in 2005 and subsequently abandoned.

2022 Sailor Seeks Horse Pinot Noir: This wine is a blend of older clones as well as modern Dijon clones from the 'home' Huon Valley vineyard.

Michele's notes: Medium depth. Red fruits - cherry and currant - dominate the nose with fragrant hints of orange rind, white pepper and almond. Layers and layers of subtle flavours sweep over the palate and are sustained by a delicious glycerol note. Hints of roasted duck, tannins and acids are very balanced. It is all very intriguing and beguiling. A beautiful Pinot Noir.

2022 Sailor Seeks Horse DIJON CLONES Pinot (value $92ea). ONLY AVAILABLE IN THE MIXED SIX. In vintage 2022 the Lipscombes fermented a blend of only the Dijon clones - 114, 115 and 777. They were so delighted with the result that they decided to bottle it and share the enjoyment.

Michele's notes: Medium depth with garnet hues. Aromas of cherry and bramble fruits, notably youngberry, with more savoury wafts of roasted tomato, cola, and cardamom /sandlewood. Texture is all here, the wine is silky and creamy in the mouth and has the perfect, flowing weight.
