Tamar Ridge 2015 Kayena Single Block Pinot Noir

Tamar Ridge Kayena Single Block Pinot Noir is only made in exceptional years. The Kayena site (just north of the Batman Bridge) on the west Tamar, was developed in 1994 by Josef Chromy when he established Tamar Ridge. This 134ha site is planted to white varieties and pinot noir and is acknowledged as one of the best sites in the state for pinot noir in particular.

Vineyard notes: 'The majority of the vineyard is planted on gentle undulating slopes with a northerly and north-easterly aspect. All vines are hand-pruned and a significant amount of the fruit produced at Kayena is hand harvested to produce grapes that display pristine fruit flavours and distinctive varietal character.'

Luxuriously perfumed with ripe dark fruits (blackberry), fine floral elements of tea rose and wet stone. In the mouth the fruit ripeness is pulled in by almost invisible oak and excellent acid balance.
