Chardonnay - Tolpuddle 2022 Chardonnay

Tolpuddle Vineyard was founded in 1988 by Bill Casimaty, Gary Crittenden and Tony Jordan. The new owners since 2011, cousins Martin Shaw and Michael Hill-Smith (Shaw & Smith), were on a look-and-see jaunt in Tasmania when they became smitten by Tolpuddle's Coal Valley location and mature vines, planted only to pinot noir and chardonnay. 

Michele's notes: Lemon curd, almond meal, saffron and stone fruit, with a hint of jasmine. Beautiful intensity and generosity on the palate, the texture is sublime. The classic Tolpuddle precision and focus is here, but the wine is a little fuller in this vintage, in part due to the maturation of several new Burgundy clones on the Tolpuddle site. While utterly delicious now, extra time in the cellar will add more flesh to the pure Tasmanian fruit. Tarragon chicken would be a perfect food partner.
