Founded in the 1990s by Swiss George Fromm, winemaker Hatsch Kalberer is now the name most closely associated with the revered Marlborough producer Fromm.

2017 Fromm Marlborough Pinot Noir: Representing four vineyard sites over three sub-regions of Marlborough. Vineyard notes: ‘Opening with alluring bright, dark, red fruits, the nose is under laced with slatey minerals, Earl Grey spice and a subtle dusting of oak. The palate is generous with lovely fruit weight and tasty, balanced acidity. A bright and pure Pinot with good fruit weight and sweet spicy undertones. Layered and harmonious with a structural complexity yet offering lovely drink now approachability.’

2017 Fromm Clayvin Vineyard Pinot Noir: Vineyard notes: ‘Located on the north facing slopes of the Brancott Valley, Clayvin Vineyard takes its unique name from the clay-based soil profile that lies beneath the vineyard. The complex clay soil gives our Clayvin Pinot Noirs richness and generosity and an immediately appealing soft texture. Pristine dark red/blue fruit, florals, spice and minerals on the nose, leading to a structured, persistent yet velvety palate.’

2017 Fromm, Fromm Vineyard Pinot Noir: Vineyard notes: ‘The terroir of this vineyard is heavily influenced by the Wairau River that lies to the north. The soil profile shows layers of silt and alluvial gravel that were deposited during many historical flood events across the valley floor. We have found that this layered soil profile produces distinct characteristics in the wines produced from this site. The wines exhibit a healthy, firm backbone and a distinct tannin structure that has become the Fromm Vineyard signature. Red fruits, florals, sweet spice and minerality. Fine, persistent tannins that flow across the palate, contributing to the elegant finish.’
