Utzinger 2025 Chardonnay

Lauren and Matthias Utzinger have been producing wine from Tamar Valley fruit since vintage 2018. In that year they also planted their own vineyard near Legana, and it is now the source of superb Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with a smattering of other grapes. In a very short time, Matthias has developed a reputation as one of the state's best winemakers.

There is opening notes of butterscotch/barley sugar leading into some steely saline sea spray with hints of pawpaw/lime and ground nutmeg.

The palate is rewarded with a textural glide that again supports some richer tropical fruits but is balanced by zippy blood orange candied acids. Some almond meal/cashew nut at play also. The balance of acids, fruit and oak integration are seamless and very welcoming
