Hurley Vineyard 2019 Pinot Noirs
Winery : Hurley Vineyard
MIXED SIX contains 2 each of the following wines
2019 Hurley Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir: The “Estate” wine is a barrel selection of fruit from the single sites that is declassified according to each vintage. This vintage all Hommage has gone into the Estate.
Michele’s notes: Brilliant hues, medium depth. Intense, berry-fruited nose - blueberry to the fore - and vanilla, cinnamon and fennel. Lithe in the mouth with a little savoury char over the juicy fruits. Great balance.
2019 Hurley Lodestone Pinot Noir: Lodestone comprises 1.4 ha of northerly aspect. Byrnes & Bell - ‘It is full of energy from the direct sun. This is a powerful climat and capable of anything. It is the difficult child. We submit to its essential nature and hope it accepts our guidance.’
Michele’s notes: Deep in hue but glittering. Enticing aromas of orange, mulberry, florals and wet stone. Deliciously smooth in the mouth, but there’s flavour energy and bounce too. Fruit, acid, oak and tannins are all in balance. Love the aftertaste… this is an exciting Lodestone.
2019 Hurley Vineyard Garamond Pinot Noir: Garamond comprises 1.2 ha of easterly aspect. Byrnes & Bell – ‘It gets the gently warming morning sun. It exudes peace, calm and fecundity. It is the good child. It sets well, but does not overcrop. It is balanced in every way.’
Michele’s notes: Quite bold in colour for a Garamond. Exquisite aromas, the wine subtly reveals itself with each sniff. Fresh thyme mingles with berry fruits, milk chocolate, white pepper and allspice. All are echoed on the palate. There’s a delicious slippery, salty, liquorice note to the finish. Superb!
