Pooley 2014 Pinot Grigio
Winery : Pooley Wines
Pooley is one of Tasmania's long established vineyards, the vines originally planted by the late Margaret & David Pooley at their Cooinda Vale property in the Coal Valley in 1985. The Pooley vineyard has now expanded to include Butcher's Hill on the outskirts of Richmond. Margaret managed Cooinda Vale and tended the vines well into her 90s, these days grandson Matthew is general manager and winemaker.
Very pale, icily refreshing in appearance. Subdued fruit in true pinot grigio style, with mineral/stone and hint of hay. After breathing fresh Packham pear and almond adds allure. As lean and lively a pinot grigio as we've tasted in Australia, where the style differences between pinot gris and grigio are rather blurred. Ultra zesty on the finish.
