Tolpuddle 2022 Pinot Noir
Winery : Tolpuddle
Tolpuddle Vineyard was founded in 1988 by Bill Casimaty, Gary Crittenden and Tony Jordan. Owners since 2011, Martin Shaw and Michael Hill-Smith (Shaw & Smith) were on a look-and-see jaunt in Tasmania when they became smitten by Tolpuddle's Coal Valley location and mature vines, planted only to pinot noir and chardonnay. In barely a decade, Tolpuddle has established itself as one of the country's top pinots.
Michele's notes: Cherry, plum and blackberries with red carnation and gentle clove spice – a divine manifestation of classic pinot aromas. In the mouth the bold fruit flavours mingle with anise, sage, coffee and a tangy salty/soy note. The winemaker’s masterful use of oak is well on show here. Fine and slightly gritty tannins add a savoury/ textural element.
This is a great drink. It is intriguing, more-ish and pulsates with energy. One of the very best Tolpuddle Pinot releases.
